Ill cut anything up :) I just need to know where the pickups go or what has to happen to make this work. I don't own a bmw or really know how each oiling system on them works, I'm just doing the fabrication and trying to educate myself!
Does anyone have a picture of where the pickup tube is inside an s52 pan? I need to know if my 1.25" clearance is going to hit it in stock form and if so where I would need to mod the pickup.Leave a comment:

Just start chopping the s52 normal pan; I'm sure sombody will give you one locally to chop up for test. If you were local to me I'd hand you one :DJust measure back an inch and a quarter from the front face of the sump, that is how much I take out. I have no way of checking what will work, Iv never even owned a bmw :) I just got the job for the s54 pan, figured out what works, and started modding those. If you can decide where exactly the pickup goes and then just measure 1.25" back from that front part of the sump, that is where the new wall would be.
Shouldn't make any difference to design/fab style.
not needed to be chopping up perfectly good S54 pans that can be ran as is in many track cars when doing the same to a pedestrian s52 pan would be more efficient. Also could consider adding more pickups to a s52 oil pan (modified) so a S54 oil pump setup with 3 pick ups could be ran with the normal S52 pan.
I think people would be happier to buy a NEW S54 oil pump and pay T-t for a multi-pick up s52 pan vs spending extra ++ to cut up a much more valuable s54 oil pan.Leave a comment:

From the estimation I made it seemed really close to where the pickup would end up but im not exactly sure. Could I just send it to you to check it out? Like I said before if it actually does indeed work this would be a much better way to go rather than chopping up an e34 pan and shrinking the capacity even more. I think a lot of people would be interested in this route.Leave a comment:

Iv never done one, would anything interfere with where I notch and add a sump?Leave a comment:

Look on the track section. There are a billion threads on it there.
What makes it impossible to use a standard pan? I'll confess that I don't quite understand why you would not be ale to cut it down.Leave a comment:

Could someone point me to an s54 pan swap for an e36? Did not come across anything on bf.cLeave a comment:

So I need to get an s54 oil pump as well and install it in my m52? Is it direct bolt in? Just trying to make sure I'm not in over my head before i commit.Leave a comment:

So will the S54 oil pickups bolt to the M52 oil pump like the E36 and E34 pickups?
Is this pretty much what Im looking for? How much can I expect to pay for a pan and pickup? (already checked BF.C real quick but found no pans)

s54 oil pump is special higher output for much RPM usage... so is its pick up tube business, all weird and s54 specific.
s54 pan and pump and pickups need to be bought as a full set. These are in demand parts for serious track racers......not cheap at all. :(Leave a comment:
