Clearance is roughly the same between pans. I was assuming a TinyT subframe.

Either way, it's a track only mod. There's no practical way to do it in a street car, however desirable it would be.

how many hours of work do you estimate took into engineering / executing?

Goos question. I'd guesstimate 40 man hours.

Anyone know if i will have issues with the dipstick and brake booster interfering? Any issues for the S54 guys?

It seems that the sump area on the E36 pans is too big and I will need to use an S54 pan. Is the S54 pan a direct swap over? I thought it was a dual pump pan or something like that.

In 1995 in our USA, BMW sold the S54 oil pan with M3 Lightweight edition cars. It was included in the trunk with some other cool items (ltw spoiler). S50b32 (3.2 euro e36m engine) uses the same oil pan as S54. S50 GT versions (late 1994/5 euro) also came with this cool oil pan.

It has 3 pick ups instead of 1, also higher capacity; that is the main difference.

oil pan has nothing to do with brake booster. sorry
dipstick is matched to oil pan.
s54 oil pan is commonly installed on track s52's in e36'm.

s54 oil pan is designed to fit perfectly in place of s52 pan. the extra capacity sticks out on the left (usa driver) side.
only thing different when installing a S54 or S50b32 (uses same pan as s54) into rear sump car is that the steering rack needs to be dropped to clear the sump on install.

                          reference my e36m with S54 catless headers + oem e46m mipipes 1+2 x brace + no modifications.

So will the S54 oil pickups bolt to the M52 oil pump like the E36 and E34 pickups?

Is this pretty much what Im looking for? How much can I expect to pay for a pan and pickup? (already checked BF.C real quick but found no pans)

Eliminate oil starvation and increase oil pressure - increased performance and longevity!

                              http://store.bimmerworld.com/e36-dua...rade-p968.aspx

s54 oil pump is special higher output for much RPM usage... so is its pick up tube business, all weird and s54 specific.

s54 pan and pump and pickups need to be bought as a full set. These are in demand parts for serious track racers......not cheap at all. :(

So I need to get an s54 oil pump as well and install it in my m52? Is it direct bolt in? Just trying to make sure I'm not in over my head before i commit.
