    Money and time.

    My car has been sitting in my dive way for three weeks now with the motor in. All it needs is an exhaust and alignment.

          Time and nailing down all the little parts so its done right.

          I am doing a major resto and lots of mods along the way so it has definitely added to the parts/sourcing complexity.

              ^^^crack a bleeder screw. Sounds like you didnt trim the booster enough.

              I should also add, remove the A/c condensor and bracket before putting the engine in the bay. Makes life alot easier.

                For all of the 24v swaps I have been a part of, the hardest part has to be the little things. Not having the appropriate bolt, or the right tool really adds a lot of time to an already long task.

                No matter how much you prepare in advance, if you havent done at least one before, you wont have everything covered. So be ready to accept defeat at points, and run to your local hardware/auto parts store in the DD to make the swap happen.

                I am about to remove my S52 over the winter and do lots of maintenance and cleaning of the engine bay to get it just how I want. I am sure it would have been much easier the first time around, but I didnt have the time.

                  That happened to me, and it was the fork/clevis pin that attaches from the booster pushrod to the brake pedal arm, I had it adjusted out to far, and it wasn't allowing the booster to release the built up brake pressure.

                    s52 e30 m3 = late nights, time away from family, work neglected, savings gone, and a very tolerant and supportive wife... thank god it runs now. Squeezing time over that past 3-4 months was a challenge.

                      Replacing the damn diff sucks. Everything else is straight forward if you have mechanical aptitude.

                        nothing about my swap was hard. only thing i had trouble with is bleeding clutch, and removing chain from back of motor after putting it in

                            If your rear main looks good. Leave it alone.

                            Guess what my brand new fucking rear main seal does?

                                I had my obdI m52 swap in and running in 2 days, then spent 4 day trying to bleed the f'ing coolant. Finnally had my bud bring over an "airlift" tool which sucks the air out of the system till the hoses collapse, then draws nothing but coolant back in. Now good to go, and loving every minute of it!
