    Future M50 Swap

Long story short, I bent a valve in my m20 and decided to swap it rather than rebuild the engine/scrap/sell it. I have a local e36 for my donor. Engine had 180k miles and everything but the dme and maf sensor. What I'm looking for is for you guys to post past experiences/mistakes you made and any good resources would be much appreciated. Even your build threads would help. And a labeled engine bay picture post swap would be AMAZING.

Here's what I've found so far:

#1 can also be an e36 radiator, they are the same
    #7 isnt required
#17 you want an 413 red label ECU
#21 Make sure you buy the correct one (vanos vs non vanos) and its also easier to start with a manual but an auto harness can be used.

Beyond that you have all the basics covered

Thanks! I've edited the list down. The engine I'm getting is an automatic so I think I'll sell that harness and buy a manual harness just because I'd rather not go through the trouble of tracing/cutting the wires I don't need.

How hard is it actually? Just let those wires sit there?

I'm not totally sure. From what I've seen you trace the wires to their respective ports and the ones you don't need, you cut off. Again, I AM NOT SURE, and if anyone can clarify that would be great.

The auto to manual really isn't that bad the only thing that's needed I believe is one jumped connection for the reverse signal. Cutting the auto out is optional for cleanliness. I'll be doing this in the next few weeks if you keep an eye on my thread it will be up when i get to it :)

I wouldn't bother selling the harness over it

Ps you're in a late model I don't believe you'll need another expansion tank?

I'll keep an eye out! And as for the expansion tank, I was really wanting to relocate it to the other side to make it look cleaner. I want to switch from mine to this: 17 11 1 712 641 Coolant Expansion Tank

You could also go internal expansion tank like the m42 rad or what this guy did

E36m3 mishimoto with aluminum tank from m42 aftermarket rad shortened and welded on, think I'm going to try this one

I'd go for the m42 but I also want to do a fan delete and just don't want to risk having a rad that small in there. That looks so clean, I'd love to do something like that but I have no welding experience what so ever, but I think you should, that'll be one of the cleanest I've seen that's custom fab'd

If you need an obd1 intake manifold and a 413 cpu, let me know, I got extras.
