    200k m50 for swap?

Looking at buying a 95 525i 5spd with about 200k for a swap, car runs and drives but has has front end damage and busted radiator so would be trailered. Is this too many miles for a swap? On a side note I have a 94 525i w/ 265k that runs great. Just trying to see what others think. What would you pay for this parts car? all parts are there from what I was told.

    thanks

Engine is a bit on the high side for mileage IMO, Leakdown and compression numbers will tell the tale though. At that age, I would consider it a candidate for a reseal (ALL gaskets). As for the car, what else is salvagable off of it? harness, ECU, Oil pan, need the trans?

    Given the mileage, $300-500 tops
I saved 15% on my Bimmer parts by switching to ...

everything is salvagable, minus the hood, grills, lights.
If I get it, it will be the whole car. Id part out what I could and scrap the shell. looking at it that was whats the most youd pay??

I would plan on using the motor, trans, harness, ecu, and anyhting else I may need for the swap. I have an 85 325e, and unsure if the trans will work w/ the swap. im pretty sure its not a 260.

Trans attached to the 525 motor is most likely a G250 (shit) or a ZF310/320 (Good trans)

If your car is an Eta, then it most likely already has the large diameter giubo shaft needed to work with the ZF transmission, and the 2.93 gear in the rear to make use of the 1:1 5th in the ZF as well (works out to be equivalent to a 3.60 with a G260)

Not sure if the early Etas had the same large diameter guibo as the late ones though, so you may need a driveshaft to use the trans (if a ZF, I think the G250 uses a small giubo)

I still wouldnt pay a lot for the car, 500 or so tops, just because of the mileage and the pain in the ass to get rid of the rest of the salable parts on the E34.

Early ETA's may have the small Guibo. My car (10/85) and a recent customer's 85 (8/84) both had the small Guibo. I pulled a Getrag at the yard a couple months ago (87iirc) and it has the large Guibo output, but didn't pay attention to the production date.
