    Fuel Pump issues after swap

So I just finished the install of my M50TU into my E30, and while everything appears to be working, when you try to start the car, the fuel pump is not turning on unless the key is in position 3.
I put a small 12V battery I use for testing on the fuel pump and it works fine. And while leaving the fuel pump going, the car starts and runs great. AWESOME.
Now, why does fuel pump only get signal to start in position 3, and not position 2 & 3?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

The fuel pump is controlled by the ECU sensing crank position signal..

It is primed when you go into RUN.
