Do obdII bolt up to the e30 stock tubes? Also will obdII bolt up to a non vanos motor?

No, OBD-II manifolds do not bolt up to the E30 stock tubes.

They will bolt up to a non vanos motor.

Right. I had it all redone when from downtube on.

OBDII headers are not the same as OBDI, as far as where the downtube meets the mani, right?

So, OBDII manifolds, to e36 midsection clears without modification to the midsection?

so from what i gather... OBDII > OBDI manifolds?

i have OBDII manifolds right now (nothing after that, i havent finished my exhaust yet) and was planning on picking up a set of OBDI manifolds with the midpipes form the JY.
Should i stick with the OBDII and weld the holes or pick up the OBDI's?

OBD2 manifolds are better, they are made of stainless steel which is a lot lighter and the casting process was improved so the internal tubing is much smoother from factory.

Weld up the holes or plug them with the appropriate sized bolt!

No. The midsection WILL interfere with the sway bar/subframe. However, I solved the clearance issue with a smooth 19 oz finish hammer and some well placed smacks on the downpipe. Not hard, and didn't impact the pipe's roundness too badly. Not the most elegant solution, and likely temporary, but works fine.

The only way I was able to get the midsection on to the manifolds was to lift the exhaust side of the engine with the hoist, get the midsection in place, get the nuts started on the studs, and then lower the whole f-er into the bay. Pretty easy, but would have been impossible without lifting the motor, or removing the studs and using bolts instead.
