    New s50 swapped car...Few questions.

First, what is normal operating temp for a s50 e30? It always runs about a line after the middle, which normally I would think would be too hott, but the PO said thats normal, is it? It never goes beyond that. The wp and radiator are new, and it also has a switched electric fan, and I do believe the stocker too. Should I be worried?

Also, when it comes to exhaust, specfically headers and catback, does normal m3 stuff work, or do they need to be shorty headers because of space?

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. I did search, but didnt really find a consensus when it came to the operating temp.

Long headers have trouble clearing the CABs. Shorty are generally used with no modification and custom downpipe

you're judging the coolant temp on the stock gauge? many things could make that in accurate, try installing an accurate aftermarket gauge.

but if the stock gauge and wiring are infact working properly, yes it's too hot. mine always ran between 1/4 and 1/2, or about 190 degrees.
