Most people when they start turbo projects start with high hopes and big buy lists and end with lots of sacrifices and slipshod work. This usually leads to problems.

      You are not that person.

Why not? If you can make such a bold claim, surely you have reasons to say so. I'd like to hear them.

I know a guy who has an m52 for $300. I should just get it and throw a turbo on it.

I'm not biased. There is an Evolution 8 sitting at my shop right now, bolt ons, stock turbo. It is a fun car, but nothing really special to be honest. At the end of the day it is just a lancer with a 4g63, and AWD.

Don't side step my question, back up your claims or GTFO. The way I see it, you can take any car and make it perform as deep as your wallet goes.

                      Yes.

Take your time, put it on a stand, build it for tarbo the right way, and drop it in when it's good and ready.

Take your time, don't rush, and do it right. That way, you won't have to do it twice.

Not to mention, when you aren't rushing, things get considerably cheaper.

If you could make an e30 perform just as well as an Evo, for similar or less money, you would see them on the circuits passing Evolutions left and right. Is this true? No, it's not. To believe that lapping a built motor into a car with extremely outdated suspension/chassis design and think it can stand up to a car as advanced as an evolution is quite silly.

You never said for similar or less money.
But with that said you might be able to make the e30 faster for cheaper. It just depends on how much you buy the e30 for and how you go about the build and how much you get the parts for.
Bottom line is you can definitely build an e30 to be faster than an evo. You can swap in so many different engines or turbo one of the stock engine options.
If you're into cars you know it's not about buying the cheapest and fastest car. Because there's much more to a car than that. If that's all we people cared about then we would all be driving the same car. Like mustangs if you're talking about straight line for example.
