    Story of my life:

I went through 6 clutches before I realized that the guy who sold me my engine took the harmonic damper off. Yeah, I'm stupid.

Part of the reason I still use a dual mass flywheel. BMW designed my engine for one, and equipeed it with such (M50), so I stuck with it for a DD rather than have potential issues....
I saved 15% on my Bimmer parts by switching to ...

the car had this setup when I bought it

Good news: I got the bell housing welded beautifully for $30!! (after name dropping my mechanic, whom the welder apparently owes his life to lol)

Bad news: got it back together after about 5 hrs in the shop last night, only to find that I have NO resistance to clutch pedal, just went straight to the floor....I accidentally bought an e30 throw out bearing instead of e36. New part ordered, back in the shop tonight tearing it down AGAIN. FML

+1 S52 has a DM as well and I prefer to keep the driveability of the car intact. The objective for me has been to seamlessly integrate the S52 into the E30 and not make it horrid to DD.

So far the only tells are the absence of M20 "tick" and the ungodly power when you push it over 3K.

The harmonic damper on the driveshaft or crankshaft?

Carnk harmonics are dampened at each end, in the back by the dual mass flywheel, and in front by the harmonic balancer.

Excessive harmonics will back out PP screws and kill input shaft bearings.

Got any pictures of this? I've never seen cast aluminum weld up cleanly.
