    E36 Expansion tank/radiator

I haven't really seen this addressed directly and was wondering...
Can the e36 expansion tank be used in a 24V swap? I know the radiator itself isn't a problem, but what about the expansion tank?

I really wanted to go for the M42 rad for the clean install, but being as I'll be running A/C and I live in the South, I'd rather not chance over heating.

I believe somewhere I read that the expansion tank assembly would be too wide to fit, just wanted some clarification.

Here is a picture for reference

I would like to know as well. I'd like to go to an E36 M3's rad and tank.
I don't always wreck cars, but when I do I wreck them into trees.

Wont fit. Engine to close to rad.

Rats. Seems easy enough to retrofit though

Not easy enough to retrofit. Stick with the m42 radiator. Engine is way to close to radiator that is right next to rad support. Otherwise stick with stock e30 325 setup...

Why would you do that? The e30 expansion tank has a mounting point built in assuming that you don't have a 318.

Yeah, exactly why I was thinking that. I wouldn't want to find a place for something when there was already a piece there to use.

Just to clean up the engine bay. I'm a little timid to run the M42 radiator being as I'll be running A/C

Seems odd but I am actually running an e30 m3 expansion tank mounted on the passenger side of the bay between the strut tower and firewall. Trunk mounted battery.
