There goes my head gasket maybe

What does it mean when I start up my car and there is a little bit of white smoke coming out of the exhaust, and I just put a whole new exhaust system on it yesterday. Is it something serious? Or just caused by water?

How new is the exhaust? Used, or brand new? Mufflers, res, cats, etc? Did it blow smoke before you installed the new exhaust?

My exhaust smoked when I first installed it. I was worried. So I drove it a little ways and the smoking stopped.

Headgasket failure usually involves some combination of the following, besides burning coolant:

        Overheating
Oil and coolant mixing - milkshake
Compression drop in affected cylinder(s), making for a loss of power

Upon startup water condensation will cause some white smoke. Once the car / exhaust is nice and hot it should be gone.

Sounds like your exhaust is just burning off the oils & grease that is on the outside of the material. It'll stop doing that eventually.
