so the tensioner pulley on my S50 is groaning

easy fix right?? Nope. The radiator has to come out as there is not enough room to slide that 6 inch long bolt out (#15).

Bu on the bright side...it will be a good time to mount my electric fan.

Literally did this today. Except my fan has yet to arrive, so the installing the fan part happens this coming week. You should change the tensioner pulley as well if it hasn't been changed yet, you're already there. And with the radiator and condensor out, it's even easier.

I was able to change mine without removing the radiator. I'm running an M42 rad FWIW.

Remove alternator bottom bolt and slide alt out and back and you wont have to remove rad.

This is why I am replacing all my pulleys and belts before the motor goes into the car!

gracias. I will give this a shot.

              **edit**

Removing lower alternator bolt worked like a charm!! I just swapped both pulleys out in less than an hour.Nice and quiet now. Toughest part was fighting the serpentine belt back on. Right now its going over the top deflection pulley instead of under...I've run out of time today so will fix it next time I work on it.

I just drove my car really hard for a day and it went away. Happened right after I put fresh coolant...
