Im pretty sure its my clutch that went , but today I was cruising and when I went to punch it to make a yellow light , I miss shifted 3rd because my tranny usually grinds it , then i wasn't able to get out of 4th .. I drive home about a mile in 4th gear , Soon as I get to the driveway and turned the car off , the gears were going in again. But now I can only go about 20 mph , if I try and go faster the rpm's just jump . Sign of a bad clutch ? it smells like it .. or should I just drop the getrag 260 and look for a better tranny because im grinding 3rd anyways

if you cant get in or out of gear i think that's a failed slave cylinder.
sounds like you have multiple issues though. i'd start with a new clutch, slave cylinder, and transmission. you can pick up good g260s for $200 all day long. no reason to not put a good one in there when you replace the clutch.AWD > RWD

i literally just replaced the slave cylinder about 3 days ago , then bleed the clutch to get it working .. im thinking of going zf tranny , i just got this g260 from e30 tech and the 3rd started grinding very shortly after having it . Does this sound like a common problem with having to get a new clutch ?

I've never had it happen to me but I've read stories of people's clutch disc going out. It will be hard to shift into any gear and or get out of any gear. It makes since that it would be your clutch because your able to shift freely with the engine off. I do know if the pressure plate becomes worn the clutch will engage very early. And the pedal will be nearly on the floor.:borg:
