Yeah, think I'll stick with the OBDII manifold for multiple reasons now.

Lets be clear before everyone jumps to the conclusion that the M50 manifold somehow hurts low end torque. From the look of the dyno it actually improves low end torque and is a little smoother.
As documented by Eurotuner:
and the full gains documented..Down low there was a gain of 9-11 lb/ft of torque between 2400-3100rpm.
If the idea of swapping in a S52 is to gain performance I say make it count. 21hp & 16ftlb is nothing to thumb your nose at.The gains peaked with 21hp at 6430rpm, plus an extra 16 lb/ft from 5900-6430rpm. And while the stock car shuts down after 6430rpm,
we predict the gains with stage 2.5 would have been well into the 30whp range if we'd been able to run the stock car up to 7000rpm.

I'm bumping this. The above graph is with the M50 intake, CAI, and software so it's not an apples to apples comparison. I have two questions - A) does the M52 intake provide more low end power? B) does it provide more clearance than the M50 manifold? I might swap my M50 intake out for an M52 intake. My car is boosted so a bump in low end power would be welcome and I can compensate for any lost high end power with boost.1997 540i/6 - stock

More heater hose clearance with M50 Mani
There is another small advantage to the M50 (OBD1) manifold-it has a little more clearance available for the heater hoses to exit the firewall. The OBD2 manifold has a "squared off" corner there, that forces the hoses to bend down a little more. The M50 manifold has a "beveled" contour in that area that allows a little more room for the hoses and pipes to emerge with less bending needed. In my case, clearance to the brake booster was exactly the same with either manifold. Just FYI....
