        Yes....but depends which cam you're talking about. There are three sunbelts, you're likely thinking of the Race cam.

        Sunbelt Sports are hotter than Schrick or MM, and might need VANOS to be shimmed.

        Sunbelt OBDII cams are similar to MMs, no Vanos shimming needed afaik (these are used in Bimmerworld's kit)

        Sunbelt Race are a true race cam. Vanos needs to be shimmed almost to the point of uselessness, and as a result, you won't make power until 5000rpm.

        MM = Metric Mechanic.

          Dynospot from san jose? How much did cams cost? I have a set of sunbelts in my m3 and love them.

            It seems like Sunbelt's are perfered, but what about the Schrick Cam Kit it seems like a lot of "bang for your buck" IMO.

              What are you trying to do with the car?

              Sunbelts are for maximum power, but they trade low end torque for top end power.

              Schricks are a no-compromise cam, but because they're more of an OEM+ cam, they have less top end than Sunbelts. Typical gains are in the 10whp avg range.

              There are many many many dynos on bf.c of schrick vs sunbelt vs * cams.

                I have this exact kit plus headers but there is no way it produces 57hp as claimed.

                You cannot tell cams are installed while idling and there is a decent rush at 4k as the motor comes up on the cams but 57 hp?

                I have no experience with other brands but wouldn't be surprised if they offer more power.

                  I was skeptical on the "57hp" but they have dyno charts posted lol. I guess there are variables to be taken into consideration.

                    So for $2,500 it's underrated? [Schrick cam kit]

                      Well, it depends. What is your power goal? With FULL bolt ons (headers, exhaust, intake) on an S52, I've seen a few dynos between 260-270whp. I've seen many more dynos in the 250whp range, either from poor tune or not having the needed bolt ons for max power (aka emissions compliance took its toll).

                        I haven't quite decided. I'd like to stay NA but if $3k isn't going to go that far, I might go with a low boost set up through blueapplesoda for $6kish. Looking for 300's. Atleast to the crank. The S50 is quick, but I'm ready to bring it to another level. Just not sure what level that is.

                          Well, to get 300 crank out of an s50 you will need cams, header, exhaust, injectors, and 3.5" maf/intake, as well as a solid tune. That will definitely push you over $3k unless you buy everything used. If your car is a street car primarily, I would go turbo.
