    Sunbelt or schrick cams

I'm thinking about running a set of cams for my s50, but I need a custom tune. I'm running a 3.5 hfm, 24lb and headers and full track exhaust setup. Does anyone know of a company that affordable that makes a obd1 tune?

If you go with the Schricks, I have a used Turner chip for this exact setup. I bought it just as a starter chip to get my custom motor running. I'll get it to you for a steal.

Don't waste your money on Shricks, if you want NA power get the Sunbelts,. If you plan on going S/C though get the Shricks. That said I think you might need to limit the VANOS travel with the Sunbelts.

I have a set of Schricks, 24lb injectors, 3.5 HFM, headers, custom exhaust and a light weight flywheel. I have a TRM tune for my setup and am very happy with it.

Or you can get MM cams, add area under the curve and keep vanos.

I have a TMS setup with Shricks, 540 MAF, injectors, etc.

The car idles perfectly and runs very well BUT . . .

In Maryland, we have emissions testing every two years. Stock s50 passed with flying colors for many years. Installed Shricks and now it fails miserably. Replaced the cat a few times with various ones but the car still never passes.

May not apply to you but if you have emissions testing, be forewarned.

Failing emission testing is because of the tune, not the cams.

Good point. But with the duration (overlap) of the Shrick cams, can they be tuned to pass emissions?

I assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that since the cams were bought as a kit from TMS that included all of the components, the tune would have been spot on.

Does anyone have Shrick cams installed that pass emissions testing?

Sunbelt / Bimmerworld is the setup I ran on my BMWCCA IP car... it uses the 540 maf too, you need to be careful since the cams require that the VANOS be limited in movement. DRVANOS sells a limited vanos that works well. Bimmerworld has the software for it. My current S52 is running Dynospot cams and software. I like the Dynospot setup more AND it's much less expensive.

EDIT: I passed smog with flying colors BTW

Yup. The MM "Rally" cams are more aggressive than the common Schrick setup but don't require a shimmed vanos or large relief pistons.

Active Autowerke also has good tunes.
