I have two pairs of new complete clutch kits, I'm giving my friend a new OEM Sachs M20B25 clutch and new PP, would this be suitable on his S50 motor? or way too weak?

one of the straps on my brand new pressure plate snapped after 100 miles. had babied the motor until then since it was rebuilt......not to due to downshifting as some like to instantly throw out there.'87 325ic, powered by S50.Comment

I would say NO.
M20 =/= S50.Last edited by slammin.e28; 04-27-2012, 06:00 AM.1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment

I ran a stock m20 clutch for a year and half with over 20 track days and more abuse on the street. Took it out when going turbo and it was barely worn. I say its all up to you to make it last.Comment

Gonna say fine for the most people but for op it will turn disastrous.Comment

I can think of about four separate reports of PP strap failure on s50's using M20 clutch setups I think several were cheap E-bay ones though. I would stick with OE Sachs stuff myself. Try for yourself and see OP just make sure you rev match your shifts well.

I've actually seen it twice both with stock Sach's clutches but that was on S52 setups but I've also seen it happen on a SC'd M20Comment

M20 clutch will hold up to the S50 just fine. Good friend of mine has been running his for a couple years and the car gets abused often. Hell, I am running a stock M20 clutch on my boosted M20 and it feels perfect after 15k or so.Comment
