underdrive pulleys ? what belt?

I might buy a used TMS pulley kit, mostly because my pulleys on my m50 right now are beat and i'de rather change them now before I find out it eats up belts after I put the motor in.

They got little knicks and bends on the lips so i'de rather change them.


my question is, since the pulleys are different sizes can you use the same factory size belt ? or ?

i'de assume the slack gets covered up in the tensioner pulley ?

When i deleted the PS i had to measure the length and buy a new belt. Put them on and see if the belt holds strong enough, im willing to bet you need a shorter one though....

yeah i need a longer belt actually, didn't think about it until i was thinking about it.. the pulleys would have to be bigger in order to "underdrive them"

i think its a silly mod and a waste of money but i'm willing since i want to replace them anyways.

Ya why not while you replacing em. It is strange though i rarely hear of anyone using them on these motors...

yeah , I've read a bunch of posts from the people who have used them and they say it does make a slight difference, i'm thinking between these, exhaust / intake and a chip it will be a little more peppy , maybe just a little.

yeah i bought some for my m50 as well. went to a mechanic and he told me that he doesnt want to do it because i would need a longer belt.

LOL ! yeah try to never hire anyone to work on your car if you can possibly do it yourself. It's just worth it.

They charge you $xxx per hour you're better off paying yourself and doing it right.

I found the belt lengths needed on the turner instruction manual online, lost the link tho but you'll be able to find it.

yea for real. its not that hard at all and i bet with a lil searching someone on here has posted a belt size for ud pulleys. the guy i bought my s50 from had them on and originally said he'd give them to me but didnt. but i bet he knows what size belt it takes. ill ask

Different kits use different belts, some only underdrive the alternator some do the wp and ps too. It's ironic your username is eurosport because that is the brand of pullies I actually have. On their site they show dyno sheets before and after on m52 and s52. Strangely the m52 sees (according to them) 8hp gains at peak and s52 only 2hp.
