is my AFM bad?

Car with the AFM plugged in sputters on hard acceleration halfway up the rev range and coasting without throttle and at idle.... runs pretty rich, but I'm pretty sure that's because I have no O2 sensor.

afm unplugged causes the car to idle perfectly, but as soon as I step on the gas it dies... bad AFM? This is cold and hot

afm that I pulled off the car I also pulled the motor out of... stock injectors, everything else, etc

I highly doubt vacuum leak, every hose and gasket is brand new and cranked down, confirmed with ether as well as brake cleaner with no idle change
