    M50/G260 bellhousing gap - What's missing?

So... I've mated my G260 to the M50 from a '92 E36 that had an automatic. There's a gap in the mating plate and I've already shit-canned the old tranny so I can't see what used to go there.
    Anyone deal with this already?

if you are still running the sheet metal plate, there is nothing else that goes in place. remember, the M50 and the G260 were never considered a native match, so gaps and such were never considered by the factory
I saved 15% on my Bimmer parts by switching to ...

That little gap should be fine.

On a related note, what's that green plastic thing above it?

Thanks Toes, I wondered about that too.

Junkie: Not sure what the pilot bearing has to do with the gap, but it was an issue. To anyone using this setup, make sure to use the pilot bearing for the G260, not the one from an M50. The newer ones have a 15mm hole. The shaft on the 260 is 12mm. Getting the wrong one was just one of the delays I've run into with this project and having projects go long leads to forgetting stuff...

I think I'm going to just cover the gap with aluminum tape to keep crap out of the bellhousing. It bugs me that I can't figure out what used to go there, since the mating plate is the one that goes with the engine. Musta been something that went there before.
