Go to the DMV website and look at the counties which only required smog checks upon vehicle title transfer. Either find a relative/ friend who lives in that county OR go to a UPS store and get a mailbox in that county. Then change your vehicle registration address to the new one. If you do not have a smog check required NOW, upon your next registration if the smog check is due it will not be required because your vehicle is now registered in a non bi-annual smog county.
would that really work? i mean it seems like a good idea but i think pretty much everywhere in california requires a smog check. you'd have to go out state for that.

The good news is that my issues lie with strictly emissions.

Question for you: what DME are you running? Stock s50 m3 DME?
How did they do the engine id? what was on the paper you gave the referee? I've found a shop that's willing to do it for me but they have no idea how to perform the check or what to write on the paper so the referee accepts it.
      Thanks!

Edit: I'm using a red 413 DME with TRM chip for my s52 ODB1

One way is to show the stamp on the block. But if they get wind of you running an OBDII motor with OBD1 smog equipment, you'll be in trouble. I don't think there is a "legit" way to do it with your setup.

No you dont. Every county does not require a bi-annual smog check. As I stated some counties ONLY require a smog check upon title transfers. All the info is there if you choose to do it. I know for a fact it works.

Yes it works. I register all my cars at my river house in Guerneville (rural area) and it's exempt from smog inspection for registration renewal. I do it just to avoid the hassle of dealing with smog inspections, I'm BAR'd. You only need to have it smogged when you buy or sell the car. Link below.

There are six counties that require smog certifications within certain Zip Codes only. These counties are:

El Dorado, Placer, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Sonoma.

            Where I live:

            Where my car "lives":

HOWEVER, this is not a get out of shit free card. It only helps you avoid smog, it won't help you if your hood gets popped and the cop knows what he's looking at.

I also have a house in Lake County which require only upon sell/buy or w.e. I do it once, then only pay registration every year, no biannual smog.

Man, I miss the cool track in CA, but I sure don't miss all that garbage!

Brought this guy back from Germany, visual inspection in Texas and 3 year registration!

didnt want to start a new thread but I had a question on header wrap during BAR. If the headers are OEM can I wrap them? How do I show proof they are OEM?
