I kind of doubt it's your head gasket. M50 based heads are also known to crack but only open under heat. If you do wind up doing your head gasket, have the head planed and pressure checked AFTER it's been heated.

Now, tons of people here have mentioned they have a SPAL fan. Good for you! Puller? Pusher? One mentioned a puller. Good for you! What about CFM? SPAL makes a crap load of fans and many with sub part performance.

Basically, a puller fan needs to be minimum 2500 with a fan shroud to properly cool your motor. A pusher fan allegedly needs to be 1500 cfm but I'd do at least 2000 to be safe. I run both a pusher and a puller with a shroud cuz I'm nuts and already had a pusher on it.

The stock clutch fan would be great but I've never been able to fit one on any M50 swap I've done.

Now other things to check. You could have a clogged radiator. Clogged motor. etc. Shit your car would be running fine and the gauge is busted. Why not... I dunno, get a real gauge that reads a meaningful number?

Basically, there is not enough info to diagnose your car. Get more. Come back.

    Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

doesnt it seem like fan is kicking on early?..

I mean, when does your tstat open?....
Just trying to give you a point of comparison. My car runs fine and I've been through everything already. Last step for me would be to put in a new M20 temp sensor in the head.

Also, the ONLY time my fan ever comes on is when I sit at idle on hot days.

I'm surprised a 1300 cfm pusher can do the job. But it def makes a big diff from a puller. Any shrouding? I don't think it would need any though.

No shrouding and with the mishimoto the air flows through pretty well.
