10. Exhaust System
Stock OBDII S54 exhaust manifolds with chopped cats and custom 2.5 inch double piping. Custom merge-Y to mate OBDII headers to 2.5 magnalfow piping. 2.5 inch resonator and 2.5 inch muffler with double walled tips.
All exhaust pieces were manufactured by Magnaflow and purchased from Summitt Racing.
(With the merge being so close to the headers, I know its a bit restrictive down low in the rev band buy the car makes 320+ on any dyno so Im not complaining. I wish my E46 M3 sounded as good as this car. It is deep, European exotic and sounds amazing, not too loud but very deep with a nice scream up top to let the P-Car's know that I'm coming.Leave a comment:

Some people say the stock obd2 downpipe work, some say the front header flange has to be cut and rewelded at a different angle.
From the looks of mine it looks very difficult to fit a flange and tube without hitting the subframe even with the engine spaced up 1/2"Leave a comment:

How do you like your exhaust setup? I'm gonna be at that step soon, S52 with stock headers. And have similar parts, Vibrant 1149 Muffler and Vibrant 1141 2.5" Ultra Quiet Resonator and wondering how it's going to sound. I was originally planing on going from the headers to two individual 2.5" pipes with an x-pipe, then the two pipes to a Y-pipe and into the resonator, and single pipe the muffler. But, if yours sounds good, I may be able to mimic yours instead.
+1 I would like to see some pics of the modified manifolds and custom downpipes. Also very interested in the noise level with this set-up.
The exhaust manifold to downpipe connection is the only area of my M52 swap I have not quite figured out yet.Leave a comment:

Post Your M/S5X 24V Swap Setup
So my car is a work in progress as I am also doing big turbo in my GTI. Here's what I have so far.
Car: 1991 318is
Donor: 1999 M3, 143k perfectly running car
Parts taken from: 1999 Z3 2.8, E34 525i, E36 328i
Engine
- S52B32 OBD1
- M50 Manifold
- M50 Fuel Rail (considering switching back)
- Pink Injectors
- E34 oil pan
- Some ghost tune I had a buddy flashed with EWS delete
Engine Wiring
-Andrew's wiring harness adapter. Car was auto so will be getting rid of extra wires.
Drivetrain
- Z3 2.8 ZF trans. Stock clutch, flywheel and pressure plate.
- Z3 2.8 LSD 3.15
Suspension
- E36 M3 5 lug conversion up front(not installed)
- Z3 2.8 rear trailing arms(not installed)
- Eibach lowering springs(not installed)
- SACHs rear struts from a E36 328i
- E36 328i generic rear strut brace
Mounts
- Condor Bushings Engine and Trans. Having difficulty aligning the engine mounts but will try again soon.
Braking
- E36 M3 Front Brakes (Hubs, rotors, calipers, pads)
- Z3 Rear Brakes
- 944 Brake booster ( had the stock clevis welded to it)
Steering System
- E36 M3 steering rack with fresh tie rod ends. No spacers were needed however I have to shave the steering rod hole at the bottom. It was touch slightly.
Cooling System
- Mishimoto E36 radiator. Plan to run an E-fan in front of the condenser.
- E36 M3 hoses for now.
Exhaust System
- EBay SS headers
- Remus muffler
