I just got the head redone, and also installed a new fan clutch, thermostat, and water pump. It's still getting super hot. Any ideas what it could be?

I know this is a basic question, but always a great place to start...are you sure there are no air bubbles in the cooling system? With all those items replaced it's quite possible there is air in the system.Originally posted by blunttechAlways Always go for the reach around if there is an option -

You need to get the front of the car jacked up, or park facing up a hill. Use the small hose that goes from the radiator to the reservoir as a bleed valve. Start the car, rev it up a bit and wait for it to start warming up. You should have the heater turned up to full hot, and the fan on all the way. As it gets hot, pull the small hose back a bit of the radiator. You will probably see bubbles. Keep doing this until you have coolant without bubbles coming out.
What temp thermostat did you use?Originally posted by LJ851kingston is the play by play announcer for this thread.

using an M42 radiator? I have one and its a pain in the ass to bleed. Use the top hose method to fill it up.'87 325ic, powered by S50.Comment

i just took it to a shop and they said it could be the water pump but its new or the thermostat but its new i bought it from them. they said im not getting go flow because the top hose is hot but the bottom is cold even when at running temp so what could it beComment

Hot top and cold bottom suggests that you have either a bad radiator or a bad water pump. A bad thermostat would mean a cold top hose.2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4WD LBZ/Allison
