m20 to m50??

how much better is the m50 over the m20?
i know its much smoother and probably has better gas milage but is there more power then the m20? i would like to get me e30 moving quicker but still be driveable. so should i go m50 or s50?
i would really like to get a s50 but money and driveability is kinda a factor.
would a 2.8 m50 with some mods be good enough?
or would the 2.5 m50 be better since there are more aftermarket parts for it?

there too many posts. just need to know what the driveability is like and how much powerful the m50 is over the m20. AND whats the better motor to get, the 2.5 or 2.8.

^ As Jeremy said, If you are considering a an M52, just go for an S50. He wishes he did.

The M50 is a great engine, but you may get used to it eventually, if you want a "rip your face off" sort of experince, just go for the S50 and don't wind up in a tree. Not saying the M50 isn't a good choice, compared to my old 84 ETA, this thing is a monster.

The m50 is about 20hp more powerful than the m20.
The s50 is about 70hp more powerful than the m20.

m20b25 ~ 168hp
m50b25 ~ 190hp
s50b30 ~ 240hp

Any guess why i have an s50 waiting to go in my car as opposed to an m50? It just doesn't seen worth all of the hassle, time, and money to swap in an m50 in my opinion...

well for the extra $ for the s50 opposed to the m50 you could have buy a m50 and turbo it and have more hp than a s50.
