yup pin 15 is a blk/grn wire, its for the load reduction relays. turns things off while you start your car.

Alright so I found the pinout chart and pin 15 IS apparently the CEL so it seems like everything is in place. Could it just be that the factory accidently used the brown wire (read that the 318 uses brown) instead of the gray?

nope, I have a good feeling its factory. I am in the middle of looking at wiring schematics on wedophones.com according to the chart i am looking at. pin 12 is for check engine light. should be brn/blk from instrument cluster all the way to c101. at c101 their should be a diode(*note diode installed as part of service information 120788 1678 ) and from the engine harness side of c101 it should be a grey wire all the way to the DME,pin 15.
