Run really rough, backfires, wont idle

    Here is what is wrong:

Starts and fires but wont stay running, if I give it gas it will run very poorly and rich.

I checked all the coils, they all test within spec.

Neighbor suggests MAF, so I unplug it and try again. Starts and will stay running at 500rpm super rough. But it runs.

Removed MAF, no wires broken, SUPER clean.

    What could be my problem?

Have you done a stomp test?

Maybe your idle control valve. Have you tried hooking your engine up to a computer? Any check engine light?

I am running the codes later today

Some reading on bimmerforums points to vacleaks or a bad MAF.

Its weird, because it sat for a week and then did this. I dont know how vac leaks would make it run rich though

Just a thought but my m62 had the same symptoms when the cam position sensor went bad. Don't know which engine you are running.

The stupid curved hose under the intake blew out once and did this to me, check that.

If you mean the one on the other side of the throttle body, that happened to me once too. Took the throttle body off ans saw light shining through the other side lol

I got it all apart at the moment, I will keep you all posted what it was.

                        intense maintenance time!

also, found a fair amount of oil in the intake manifold. Not worried about it though, my car never smoked
