    Update: My transmission dilema

    Looks like the 240 is gonna work on the s50, stuck them up to each other and everything lines up, also i am using an e36 M3 clutch and flywheel again fits like a champ. Just wanted to let people know how my project is coming along . I will have to actually finish the transmission side of the project first before i give the full go ahead but other then that everything bolts up fine.

    P.S. **I need m50 parts --->

    1.Vibration Damper
    2.Timing Chain Tensioner
    3.Tensioner from the Alternator/Water pump area
    4. Two Connecting pieces that hold the tensioner from #3

    PM me if you have these items

    thanks for the update, I'm in the same spot as you. Have any idea what driveshaft your going to use? I think the 325i unit might work.

      Why are you going to use the e36 clutch and flywheel? The e36 uses a dual mass flywheel, where the e30 uses a single mass flywheel...

        There are 2 timing chain tentioners. One at the top between the cams and one on the side of the lower chain. Because there are 2 chains. A chain for around the cams and one that connects to one of the cams and goes down to the crank. Which do you need...not that I have either but for your infomation and others.
        And do you need the whole mechanism or just the spring??

          I am using the dual mass for the time being to save on money because i already have an e36 m3 clutch and flywheel that came with my engine and i do not want to spend $300 a new SPEC clutch for a 318. I have a 318is which comes with a dual mass and i know that clutch can not handle the power plus i have had many M3's and the flywheel does not hurt it performace much.

          P.S.- I need the timing chain tensioner that plugs into the exhaust side of the engine. I need the whole piece bolt spring everything.

            I have my own shop and can mess with my car everyday with proper tools, so replacing the clutch and/or flywheel later will not be difficult.

              Check with the dealer on the tentioner. The upper one is WAY spendy at the dealer. I don't know about that lower one. The lower spring was around $8.00 here. And it's the same spring as the one in the oil pump!

                    Wow this makes me really mad because i have posted this question on this board and other boards and been told by numerous people(Probably none of which have any knowlege on this specific subject.) That this tranny will not bolt up. The euro depot has it posted on thier site that it works but other than that i never saw any other information on this topic. Do i still use my same drive shaft? I assume it would be the right length... This would be really cool if it works out alright.... So what clutch/flywheel combos can you use with it? and what kind of power can these transmissions handle?

                            Ok fellas the e36 M3 Pressure Plate wont fit inside the getrag 240 so i ended up going with the 318is clutch and pressure plate for now its brand new ,i am wondering how long it will last.

                              Thats a good question. Let us know how long the 318 clutch holds up.

                              Did you check into aftermarket clutchs at all?
