    BMW M50 NV 2.5L Rod/Main Bearing clearance

    Hi guys,
I searched around for the Rod/Main bearing clearance, but no much info are around, and am looking for your help here guys.

Am building an engine that use forged internals, as am using eagle rods, with stock bearings, so I wonder how much clearance should be on the Rod and main bearing, knowing that am using ARP main studs, as this engine will be used with high boost, anyone know what it should be? as using plastic gauge to check the clearance.

    Thanks in advance guys,

The table is in the Bentley and TIS manuals. I don't have either for an M50, so I can't pull it up for you.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      These are the factory clearances,

      Bearing Clearance: 0.0008-0.0022 in
      Main Bearing Clearance 0.0008-0.0023 in

      Good Luck

Correct. I saw .0011" on the current build.

If you put ARP on the mains, make sure you have the block aline honed. The ARP's will distort the main caps with the higher clamping force. Just did this on a forged s50 and they distorted quite a bit.

I think I will not be able to do that now in a machine shop! am few steps on starting the build, and would delay me for a week or 2 if I want to have it done in shop.

Anyhow, how much I should do it? or can be done with very soft sandpaper by hand?

          Thanks,
