    CCV Question

I purchased this M3 with an S52 swap already done but I am having some issues.

As you can see in this picture there is no hose attached to the crank case vent which in turn means that I have no CCV/pressure regulating valve either. How important is that? Should I just get the hose and connect it to a oil catch can or is the pressure valve very important?

    TIA!!

People vent those to the atmosphere all the time, especially in forced induction applications. You should at least have a filter on it though. I'm guessing there is a plug in the intake boot where that would have gone right?

Thanks for the info! Yes there is an empty spot on the intake boot that I could connect it to.

I'm having an issue with black smoke from the exhaust so I'm trying to figure out what the issue is....

Well if that port on the valve cover isn't capped off or plugged then the lack of crank vent system isn't your smoke unfortunately. Maybe a terrible idle though. :-)

I would hook it up just for the sake of not having it open... may get the engine bay a tad oily

ps -- are those through-the-rad-core fan mounts on the back of your rad?

You guys should read up on the perks of negative crank case pressure. The boost guys even do stuff like draw through the turbo intake and such to attempt to get negative CC pressure.
If youre NA. Put the factory OBD2 Cyclone Seperator in there like it would have been done from the factory.
