the ZF with a short shifter and DSSR is an awesome setup. And with the Soutbend Stage 3 clutch setup its nice to know it can handle a crap ton of power. If you decide to go down that road, which most people do. :) Worth the money for sure.1989 E30 Zinnoberrot Vert 325i OBD1 S52 turbo;IPComment

Is the back of the E34 oil pan near the flywheel different than the E36 pan?
I put my G260, E30 single mass flywheel up against the back of an m50 with the e36 pan and there seems to be no clearance issues at all...
The e34 pan I bought used for my S50 has marks in it though, from a flywheel grinding against itComment

I know it doesnt fit. I have an e34 pan. But my spare engine Has a regular e36 pan.. and for shits n giggles i put the m20 flywheel up against the back of it and I don't see any clearance issues with the m20 flywheel. I was just wondering if the rear section of an e36 pan, near the oil seal, is different than the e34.. just curious. I haven't crawled under my car to see how it looks on the s50/e34Comment

Does anybody know the machining limit on the friction side of the flywheel?? All I can find on the internet is someone claiming the step should be. 010 or more. I just dropped my flywheel off at the machinist he's going to cut the front of it for clearance.. he said he can resurface the friction area toobut but I don't want him to cut too muchComment

I'm running a bimmer world clutch masters kevlar cluth with their lightweight flywheel... makes a huuuuge difference. Takes a minute to break in, but soooo worth it.Comment

Ok so this machinist has been around for years but he's french Canadian so there Ian's slight language barrier. I told him not to knock the raised friction sd surface off but he did anyway. He said it was so warped he had to keep cutting.. so basically my friction surface is on the same exact plane as my press plate mounting point.
I'm gonna have slippage if I run this thing aren't I? I could probably machine the outer edge down so it pretty much ends up with the same amount of height difference as stock, but how the hell do I get the ring your off without ruining stuff? It looks like the ring gear has the dowel pins built inLast edited by bimmer630; 12-17-2012, 12:53 PM.Comment
