    Diagnostic plug not used, eh?

When I rewired my s50 harness to mate up with the c101 connector, I think I remember noticing the diagnostic line from the DME didnt get used? I may be wrong since It shouldnt even be going through that connector... But after getting my swap wired up and started last night, I attempted to connect to the car with our bootleg DIS system, and it wouldnt connect.

It would be nice in the future to be able to get codes etc.. out of this thing if I ever run into problems

First off you need a true ADS cable to talk to OBD1 and second off yes, it has to have power through the C101 in order to work properly.

This is an interesting topic. Why so secretive? I'm jealous.

The diagnostic port should absolutely work if you wired the harness correctly.

yeah I got it wired up right now. The chart I originally used to convert the harness didnt have one of these " C101 pin 6 to X25 pin 22 and C101 pin 16 to X25 pin 17" I forget which one it was but I didnt have one of them connected. Thanks Bren30 for clarifying that

Thanks. I don't know how I got to thinking this wasn't possible.

Yea, the check engine light is definitely helpful, especially with the stomp trick to get flash codes. It's also necessary for those that want to get the swap BAR'd/legalized in California. I'm not sure what extra work is needed to have BAR pass an obd2 swap, but man I wish I had obd2 diagnostics at times.

We have a chinese copy of BMW factory diagnostics (DIS) at the shop, so its cool to be able to connect to the thing, although OBD1 doesnt really seem to show much info anyway

Where does everyone have their diagnosis plug mounted?

the DME k-line doesn't go through the C101.

I thought that round mount on the M3 trim parts I bought was for the C101 connector (??) My Diag plug would probably reach but right now the ground and Batt + leads are connected on the passengers side and they are branched off really close to the diag connector.

And Whats with your airbox? is that a gutted E30 air meter with an HFM stuck inside somewhere?
