Unless the E36 is trashed or crashed it would generally make more sense just to get whatever 6 cylinder you want and the other required parts to swap rather that trash a car just to get an engine. Right?

            Ban.

E30's are gods chariots which require a blood sacrifice of e36 parts.

If you already have the engine and skip all the maintenance parts you'll need about $1700 in other parts (some new, some used). If you can't do it yourself expect to pay someone for a 25 hours of work.

True enough, but do we need more BMWs turned into washer and refrigerator cases? Perhaps taking the window switches will be enough?

                  I hate e36's

... but I have an e36 antenna, s50, 5lug from an e36M, and an e36 rack. Kinda funny

Since you have the engine already, probably 1000-4000 dollars.

Fine. Crash it first, then swap the motor.

Guess I'll say it. Search. And for finding out a price, the only analogy I can think of is a random math problem that you have to solve for x. And the numbers or variables change from each equation presented by those who have done the swap.

no one's asking the right questions here..

how much would it take to put the e30 engine in the e36?
