I was able to unbolt the trans mounts, lift the front of the engine and get plenty of access to the bell housing bolts. Just used a bunch of extentions. Much easier then taking out the engine.

Even being 24v swapped? Didn't know if it would be a pain because of the additional rotation of the trans.

This is simply not true, and is likley the problem. Bearing pushes on fingers until it hits disc hub.

Exactly. Not only that, but some discs have about 2 or 4 "tabs" that protrude and interfere with the flywheel bolts if you put it on the wrong way.

Yeah I thought about it more and it could be backwards. But, I remember how I installed it so if someone can confirm.

The springs protrude further on one side. The center splines also protrude out further on that side. That's the side I set towards the transmission. I compared it to the oem clutch and it said gearbox side on the side I installed towards the trans. So I think I'm good there.

It has to be the throwout bearing.

The stub on the disc, the side the sticks out the most, goes towards the MOTOR. It resides in the opening in the fly the pilot bearing sits in....

You are NOT GOOD THERE BRO.
Now man up and pull that tranny.

Are you 200% positive? Everything Ive read says the opposite.

Heres a picture I found of the clutch install. Tell me what you think.

What you wrote in this post doesn't confirm with the picture. The picture is correct in the center splines that protrude further out are towards the motor.

Either way you have to pull the tranny, so get going.

Changing my opinion to the TO bearing being 90deg off or a broken fork pivot pin or both.

^You guys are confusing E30/E36 clutches. E36 clutches the hub sticks into the motor. E30 ones you cant really install backwards as the spring assembly runs into the fw.

The motor is in the car, and they're fine. Thanks though.

If those are the M3 race lands, they clear just fine. Just a little bit of a pain to get in.
