Otherwise you just need a 413 ECU, M50 MAF, and M50 Vanos engine wire harness.
I know you have done many work on stroker engines and i will defenetly will need your help and guidence.
My plan is to install the M50nv now. And pass California BAR then (this gives me time to get the S50 cams and vanos unit) if i can swap the S50 parts or if need be take the head off and send it for machine swap the parts get a new head gasket (a refresh per say)
Parts i have
A) all necesary parts to do the M50nv swap (therefore an M50 maf)
B) an extra m50 vanos harness from an e36
C) an 413 ecu
Parts i need
A) s50 cams intake and exhaust
B) S50 tray
C) S50 vanos unit
Please add to the list of items need it if i missed something
Also how much power (on the low end) should i expect?
Thanks and will start the hunt now
Update:i found a vanos unit from a 96 328is will this work? I crossed reference all the parts numbers on realoem and it seems that all vanos units are the same From 325i to M3Last edited by amcink; 03-30-2013, 07:56 AM.

changed the harness, plugged the 2 knock sensors, tooth wheel, vanos filter tower, s50 cams, vanos itself and valve cover, cam sensor and maf sensor.

The NV M50 engine runs a lower compression (10:1) versus the VANOS M50 (10.5:1) so you HP and TQ numbers might not be exactly what you are expecting and my guess would be right around stock VANOS M50 numbers with S50 cams.. maybe just a little higher but nothing ground breaking.
Also, The NV MAF and Vanos MAF are completely different so to run a vanos wire harness and tune you will need a VANOS 3" MAF.
You can use any single VANOS unit but the solenoid connector is a little shorter (or maybe longer) on OBD2 cars like a 328i.
There are cast differences in heads and I've seen some where they head was replaced with a 400 cast head so no modification was needed to clear the VANOS plunger bolt heads. The best way to find out is just to mock it up, you will know right away if you need a Dremel. On Barry's build he had an earlier double valve spring head so we had to modify it to fit the VANOS unit.
In the end the biggest difference you will feel is more useable low end torque which is great for a daily driver.

This is ok. Just looking for something smooth for a DD
