I've been lurking on here for over a year, searching through the classifieds on a regular basis for a well built, modest, swapped e30 sedan for daily commuting...next thing I know I buy a E30 M3 with a swapped S50b32
I'm still waiting for it to arrive, but in it's current state it's primarily a HPDE car. The PO has the left headlight removed and air running straight to the airbox...

The filter is mounted inside of the airbox. I have searched everywhere, is there an alternative option to this? If I put the light back in and take the hose off, and just have the open 'trumpet' will enough air get to the engine? Alternatively, does anyone make a faux headlight for this sort of application so there isn't just a gaping hole where bugs and sh$t could fly into to?
Thanks for the help in advance
