S50b32 CF airbox

I've been lurking on here for over a year, searching through the classifieds on a regular basis for a well built, modest, swapped e30 sedan for daily commuting...next thing I know I buy a E30 M3 with a swapped S50b32 I'm still waiting for it to arrive, but in it's current state it's primarily a HPDE car. The PO has the left headlight removed and air running straight to the airbox...



The filter is mounted inside of the airbox. I have searched everywhere, is there an alternative option to this? If I put the light back in and take the hose off, and just have the open 'trumpet' will enough air get to the engine? Alternatively, does anyone make a faux headlight for this sort of application so there isn't just a gaping hole where bugs and sh$t could fly into to?

You could probably make a headlight blank out of some ABS plastic.

The car would be fine without the hose, this is how most CAI work anyways. You just wont get the benifit of colder ambient air entering the intake, instead youll have a little heat soak.

Or you could run a new hose that goes to a smaller hose down towards the bumper, i think this is the direction where the EVO airbox sucks air in?

I'm curious how one goes about changing that air filter if its inside that airbox...

But you should be fine without that length of ducting leading from the high beam. Awesome looking ride!

His primary fs post was on m3forums. It looks like he kind of gave up on s14.

A small company that shipped my fj40 to me last year is doing the shipping this time around....I found them on uship originally.

No the car had the swap done to it prior to previous owner.
