    ZF320 and G250 interchangable?

Sorry if this has been covered, but I can't find any clarification on this through the search.

I have read a couple posts eluding the Getrag 250 and the ZF320 are different lengths from the mating flange at the engine to the output flange. Is this true? If so, how big is the difference?

    Thanks!

For an E36, a G250 driveshaft is listed as being 1512mm in length. A ZF320 driveshaft is 1492mm in length for am E36 328i. I believe the two guibos are around the same thickness, with the ZF guibo being likely a few mm thicker (just a guess).

While the overall lengths are similar, the output flanges have different bolt circle diameters.

Thanks Fred, I knew the drive shaft lengths were a little different from the ETK, but I was unsure if that had to do with the CV differential joint on some models.

Excellent point about the bolt circle for the output flange, I forgot about that.

      I'm inexperienced with E36 parts :???:

FWIW I read the difference between the two in length is about 1.5" in case anyone else is wondering.

I bought a ZF320 and measured it against the G250 I had. With a Guibo installed on each, the ZF was about 20mm longer (.75").
