VIBRANT EXHAUST setup on my s50/s52 track car---sounds angry! (videos included)

I posted this up in my build thread, but I thought you 24v guys might like to hear it.
Thanks to all of you who posted up videos of your setups!

    At the track

    Skid pad

    Engine: 1995 M3 S50B30US head on a 1999 M3 S52B32US block (24v swap) 11:1 CP Pistons
    Camera/mic: GoPro Hero2 and Audio-Technica ATR-3350 (at rear bumper)

Exhaust: Supersprint rep header to magnaflow "y" collector to single Vibrant 2-1/2 High Flow Cat to Vibrant 2-1/2 Ultra Quiet Resonator to Vibrant STREETPOWER Muffler.
I paid $160 to a local shop for parts and labor to instal and weld it all together including and O2 bung, "massaging" the headers, and welding my rear sway re-enforcement.
It's nice and quiet at idle. Relatively mild around town and on the highway, then unleashed once you get the R3v's up!

      I started with s52 headers.
Once I saw the fitment and how they aim directly at the subframe I swapped them out to the ebay headers and for the price I'm glad I did.

I didn't need a downpipe or have to modify the header flange.

Thanks, my baby is riding on a set of your wheel studs. Makes changing out the tires at the track so much easier!

The rasp comes from the headers. Ceramic coat them and it should go away. Rasp comes from thin metals vibrating and hard bends.

Yes, I read about coating the headers (inside and out) to minimize the rasp.
For my purposes the car is not my DD and really only driven to and from the track and occasional drives around the back roads so it doesn't bother me one bit.

I track a swapped s50/325i..I run a 2.5 single set up......mf hi flow cat and borla rear muffler ....thats it..and its waay quieter than your set up.....strange....and you run a reso and a muffler on top of the cat....

anyhew....nice track set up....mine is too quiet.
I love sitting down and just driving!

Im running same headers on my s52 with a high flow 2 in 1 out CAT to a supersprint cat back from a z3 2.8, and its quieter than yours, but more raspy.

                          wow sounds awesome!

I'm curious – from your other videos I'm assuming you kept the same suspension before the engine swap while still M20 powered. What are your lap times now with the S50/52 versus the M20?

No dyno yet, but I am super curious to see what she can do!

I wonder if my mic setup makes it sound louder than it actually is? I'll have to do some drive by clips at some point.

                              Thanks!
The suspension is pretty much the same but It's hard to make a good comparison.
                              1. I just started running on R-compound tires.
                              2. I'm still new to track driving, so my learning curve is still pretty steep.
                              3. I added camber plates and a de-powered e36 rack

What I can say is there is a huge difference in speed.
At Summit Point on the main straight the m20 used to barely break 110mph.
                              The S52 easily hits 130mph.
The S52 hits 100mph at the two other straights and the m20 was probably around 80mph.

On turns that I used to "brush" the brakes with the m20, have now become mod-hard braking turns.

I used to be the slowest or one of the slowest cars on the straights and now I'm one of the faster cars. (On the twisties, the e30 was always one of the fastest cars)
