    TDC -harmonic dampner

Is the only way to know TDC without harmonic dampner is to turn engine until the front lob cams are at a 45 degree angle. Silly me took of the harmonic dampner to take off a bracket. Many thanks.

This assumes your cams are timed correctly. I generally do not like to rely on that assumption.

Your best bet is to remove the number 1 plug and measure when the piston is at TDC.

        Two thoughts.
The harmonic dealio on the front has an alignment pin on the crank and in the dampener, you can't put it in the wrong way. That is thought number one.

Number two, how to "measure" TDC
Take out your spark plug, put a wooden dowel that is quite long (long enough to stick at least 6 inches out of the valve cover) and slowly rotate the bottom end until the rod starts coming up, wait till it starts to go back down and then go back and forth until you find the highest point that the dowel goes to. This is would be a semi rough way to find TDC.

But if you still have the dampener just stick that back on for a few seconds, more accurate.

great tip...i didn't notice the alignment tip, great time saver, alternate method is definitely good to know.
