    M52 OBD2 to OBD1 fast question

I just came across an m52 for a good price with the plans to 24v my e30. My question is am I able to use the current obd2 head on it? A friend of mine said i can eaither get an obd1 head and use that, or he said i would have to have the obd2 head have a second hole drilled for the second temp sensor that obd1 uses. The question that i have is if that is true? Everywhere i read on r3v and bimmerforums no one said anything about the temp sensor, so if anyone has the answer i would love it thank you.

you can use either the m50tu or m52 head. As you said, you might have to modify one of the holes for the e30 temp sender.

You think it would just be best to use an M50 head and save my self the trouble?

Using the m52 head is fine all you have to do is modify the e30 sensor to fit the m52 head. By modify i mean use a tap&die kit on the sensor.

i need a brown e30 temp sensor for the gauge and a m50 sensor for the ecm?

And also not all OBD2 heads DONT have the port. The motors that came from 96/early 97 cars still had port just blocked off.

So you were willing to buy an m50 head and swap it instead of having an OBD2 DME flashed? For the sake of simplicity?

Throttle body coolant bypass, remove nipple in head, rethread E30 temp sensor, profit. No tapping your head, no bullshit coolant leaks down the line etc. Unless you live in a cold climate and daily drive the car in the winter that is.
