you can swap in a complete i cluster. reflow the solder on the SI board and throw in some new batteries, and also put in new odometer gears.

84 e fuel pumps and vdo cluster question.

Hey guys I have two fuel pumps and I'm swapping in a M50. I screwed up and bought a nice motometer cluster since mine is all jacked and I figured I needed the tach for the swap. My question is can I remove the tank fuel sender pump and run a newer line pump and will the motometer cluster show the level? Not sure what to do with the cluster I guess. And what to do with the old e pumps.

Subscribed... I also have an eta and will eventually do the 24v swap. Keep up the good questions. Make the beautiful car of yours run as good as it looks.

There is one important wire that runs in the glovebox that you need to get to the harness, but I cannot remember off of the top of my head.
Did an m50tu swap into a friends 84 318i and it was simple.

Actually, just saw yours is an E. The guy that I got the motor couldn't put it in his early model E because he said he didn't have a chassis side plug. But yours may be different!
I am currently trying to get my 325e started. Does anyone have more information on which wire this is? I think this might be the reason my fuel pump is not kicking on.
