Can I lock an M50 at TDC with a Getrag 240 (e30 318i transmission) & M20 flywheel installed? I suspect the cam timing might be off on my non-vanos.

The M20 flywheel will not have the hole for the locking pin to fit in.
The best method is to reference the mark on the harmonic damper upfront. If there is no front TDC mark, you may have to find TDC by using a dial gage down the spark plug hole and measuring where the peak is.-Nick
