I recently finished building another s52 obd1 e30, with ZF tranny and 3.25lsd rear end. Lined it up with my s52 obd1 e30 with getrag260 and 3.73lsd and the ZF e30 pulled on me in every gear. Not only that but my car has bolt on mods and an s52 with waaaaay less miles. ZF is the way to go.

However I will say that my 200k+ drivetrain has held up for over 20k miles no problem, and I beat on it pretty hard. Also I prefer the notchy feel of thr getrag, the positive engagement feel into every gear is nicer than thr vague feel of the ZF. That said I am still going to swap over to ZF just for the performance.

I find the later model 97-05 getrag 250 to be a good lightweight transmission. Because E30 is much lighter than E36 and E46, I find this transmission to be very good and holds S52 no problem.

drive shafts for it are very common also; from 323/325 e36 all day long almost free if you ask friends.

one could probably profit if selling off the G260+its driveshaft and going to a E36 G250+g250 driveshaft with correct tilt/shifter linkage to plug and play with e30 24V

G250 transmission is oem factory bmw attached to m50 engine.......

For any 24v engine you can use any 24v gearbox with its matching e36 driveshaft

              Zf sg310 and 320 5 speed is with s50/ s52/m52

              G250 5 speed is with m50 from e36 325 and 323i.

              The g250 and e36 325 driveshaft fit a e30 perfectly just like a zfsg320 and e36 328i
Driveshaft. Get the shift linkage/driveshaft/gearbox all at once.

e30 center bearing is fitted to the e36 driveshaft to match e30 body.

328i is as common as 325 or 323 in the scrapyards

Same concept; much more common parts. All oem and avail CHEAP

uh-huh. this is what everyone does when fitting e36 driveshaft on E30 as the center bearing standards are different.

                  I used a e30 center bearing + e36M automatic driveshaft for my e46320D euro 6 speed conversion

OK pick n pull special this weekend G250+drivetrain for about $110 bucks due to the 50% memorial day - there are some ZFSG320 + drive train but not on special at the Premier side and it cost about $460. Therefore I'm getting grease this weekend and pulling the G250 and drive train; shift linkage and clutch
                      Thanks everyone for their input

Cut out two holes so that you can access the rear oil pan bolts.

Do you use just the front half of the driveshaft or the entire shaft?

Ok got the G250 from a 95, will my m20 derive shaft work with this or do y need the e36 driveshaft. Also how about my M20 clutch and single mass flywheel can I use this with the G250?
