Which Instrument Cluster Are you suppose to use if your doing the S52 swap or for that matter any 24v swap into a 1986 325e?

I think my scenario is fffffed because of my ancient e30. Someone said here that you're screwed if you have an 84 or 85 because the old clusters can't be swapped. Is this correct? Mine is junk and I wanted to replace it with a newer I cluster for the M50 swap but I guess it won't work?

In the read this thread and the wiki write up they never mention the instrument swap. I don't see how the 84 or 85 wouldnt work

I run VDO 7000rpm cluster from 1989 325i into my 5000rpm 325e, it works fine, it is plug and play, fuel gauge reads correctly.
