I have just swapped a Vanos M50 into my E30. The car runs, but its in limp mode. I borrowed a Bav Auto code reader from my buddy, and it turns out I am throwing a 4b and a 28. Which is Air Intake temp and Mass Airflow Sensor. My engine harness did not come with a MAF plug, so before I got one I had wired it up that way I thought was correct. If I had wired it incorrectly could have that fried my MAF. Could the MAF have been bad to begin with? Is there anything I can do to test it to see if its any good? I dont really want to buy one if I dont have to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again, Ben

HELP--Throwing MAF and air intake temp codes

Air intake temp is the connector on the underside of the intake manifold, near the back of the motor.
Yes, you could have fucked the MAF up. The e36 bentley has procedures for testing it (make sure you dont use the non-vanos procedures).

Maybe, its two wires, grey and brown.
However, you need to be worrying about your MAF, as that's the main problem.
EDIT: You need to get yourself a bentley and pour over the wiring diagrams, and also get a pin-out for the MAF.Last edited by Skafrog; 02-22-2006, 07:19 PM.
