M50/S50/S52/M52 Oil pan extends to the left making it imposible to fit to e30 even if the subframe is modded for clearance, this is because of the left ball joint that bolts to the subframe.
But M54 oil pan does not extend to the left, instead it extends straight down, this make it possible to fit into E30 with subframe mod and moving the rack two inches forward.
I've been dry fitting M54 oil pan and it is totally possible to fit the M54 oil pan in there without doing any mods to the oil pan, and good news is that M54 oil pan will work fine on older M50 engines.
I just wonder if the steering geometry would be greatly effected by moving the rack forward 2 inches?
