M50 with S50 cams and G250 with S3.73 will this be a good set up?

with 195-60-14 tires, you will be running over 4k rpm @ 80mph

if you are confortable with that, it should be quite a rev happy and agile car.

G250 trans are junk, very weak. I would want at least 3.25 gears if I planned driving 55 or higher.

G250 is what i got to work with and no more money for a new one. i'm running 16" wheels - Therefore it seems that in the near future after my swap i will need to get at least a 2.93 is this correct? or is there a better choice since I will be tunning it with a chip and we expect to get 205 hp

i'd say 3.25, thats basically a g260+3.73

3.15, 3.23 are the stock e36 m3 final drive ratios

3.15 is the final drive of e36 325i manual (it has a m50+g250)

I run a 3.46 final drive in my e36m; it had a 3.23 stock. 17" tires

My 325i 5 speed with g250 had a 3.15 in it stock; I put in a 3.46 yesterday. 16" tires

Anything between 2.93-3.46 is ok for street everyday use; if you have small rolling tires then go toward the lower side.

I'm running a 16" tires and it seems that a 3.15 will be easier for me to find than a 3.23

No problem. Final drive is a personal preference; I say run what is available to you and adjust to your own liking


3.73+g250 will be annoying but great for smoking tires
