    Tonys M50 Swap Build Thread

Alright... Its time to get started on this damn swap... I dont have everything ready but im already running into some problems and i need all the help i can get... A buddy of mine got a 1995 e34 525 that he wants to track. He wants to slam a s52 in there so the m50 in there has to go... I decided to take the m50 to put in my e30 so yeah. This weekend i pulled the motor out but noticed somethings that im a little confused about... Anyways pics will explain..

    The donor: 1995 525i

Okay... So what i noticed was this throttle cable that was on the throttle body... It looked like a motor that controled the first throttle plate or something.. The connector of this motor is on the chassis side... Do i need this for the swap? Or should i grab a throttle body without it?

Also want to throw a shout out to Wh33Lhop for giving me tons of info on the swap! Hes a reall cool dude!

UPDATE: this motor is gone... I just picked up the same motor from a 94' 325i .

As far as I could tell that thing connected to your throttle body is some sort of choke. Mine was busted on my e36 parts car so I went without, had no problems.

    Early models do it better.

im trying to make a BAR legal swap since i live in california... do you think they'll check for that? or should i find a throttle body without that choke?

Actually, is that the cruise control module? If it has a cable on it I'm willing to bet it is. Either way it shouldn't have any affect on BAR/smog/whatever.

Its not the cruise control for sure. It doesnt connect to the primary throttle plate... Just the one on the front.

Okay i been super fcking busy with work and life... But my tranny took a dump yesterday so its time to get serious with this swap... I updated the first post but ill mention it again... The m50 that i pulled from the E34 is gone... So i went out and pulled one from a 94' E36 325i... My question now is can i use the 5 speed tranny and driveshaft from the same e36 325i? I can find a ZF320 tranny but its going to be hard to find a freakin e30 M3 driveshaft... Looking for other options here... Currently out of a car so i needa get this done! Thanks in advance for helping

You can also use a e36 328i driveshaft, or a e36 m3 driveshaft being the 4 bolt style.

Also need a E30 CSB flipped backwards.
